Creonic publishes Viterbi Decoder under Open Source License
Convolutional Codes are widely adopted in a
variety of applications and standards for forward error correction. Now
Creonic publishes the VHDL source code of a generic Viterbi decoder
under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The Viterbi decoder can be
adapted to most of the standards that apply convolutional codes as error
correction technique (GSM, UMTS, CDMA, WiFi, WiMAX, …). The decoder is
characterized by high payload throughputs, high clock frequencies, as
well as a low resource utilization. The AXI4-Stream interface allows a
simple integration.
The publication under GPL makes it possible to use the IP core free of charge and enables the adaptation of the decoder to your own needs. Besides support, Creonic offers commercial licenses that give the user of the IP core more rights than the GPL.
